Hard rock or heavy rock is a loosely defined subgenre of rock music
that began in the mid-1960’s, with the garage, psychedelic and blues
rock movements. It is typified by a heavy use of aggressive vocals,
distorted electric guitars, bass guitar, drums and often accompanied
with pianos and keyboards.
Hard rock developed into a major form of popular music in the 1970’s. Today you can find few Australian hard rock bands that are slowly emerging in the field of music.
Whereas indie rock, which comes from "independent," describes the
small and relatively low-budget labels on which it is released and the
do-it-yourself attitude of the bands and artists involved. It is a
genre of alternative rock that originated in the United States and the
United Kingdom in the 1980s. New indie bands have attracted a large crowd especially the youth of today’s generation.
